Platform impact

Clean Market’s primary impact is created through the organisations and decisions supported by the platform.

Alongside this, we seek to operate Clean Market Group Limited in a responsible and transparent way, proportionate to our size and stage.

This page outlines our current operational footprint, approach, and commitments.

Our focus

Clean Market Group Limited, trading as Clean Market, is a UK-based service business.

We do not manufacture products, operate factories, or run physical supply chains. Our operational footprint is therefore primarily associated with:

  • data hosting
  • software development
  • office energy use
  • IT equipment
  • business travel

As the business grows, we aim to invest in cleaner facilities, processes, and technology, and to improve measurement over time.

Measurement boundary

Base year: 1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026

During this period we are establishing baseline data across relevant operational areas.

Current operational position

Data and application hosting

Hosted using infrastructure powered by 100% renewable energy.

Software efficiency

clean-market.co runs on a proprietary .NET application.
The homepage currently generates approximately 0.03g CO₂ per view, placing it among the lowest-emission websites tested globally.

IT equipment

We prioritise reconditioned hardware where possible, including laptops, monitors, tablets, and desktops. Printers use refillable ink reservoirs rather than disposable cartridges.

Business travel

Train travel is used where practical.
We plan to transition to EV fleet vehicles when feasible.

Electricity

HQ electricity is supplied by a 100% renewable energy provider.
Staff are encouraged to use renewable electricity for home working where possible.

Heating

Gas is currently used. Lower-carbon alternatives will be adopted when viable.

Water

Operations do not generate industrial wastewater.
We promote water-use awareness.

Waste and recycling

As a service business, we generate minimal operational waste.
IT equipment is used to end-of-life and then processed through licensed recycling partners.

Finance and investment

  • Banking provided by Monzo
  • Online payments handled via Stripe

If external investment is required, we will not partner with institutions that hold fossil-fuel positions.

Giving

We have pledged to distribute 2% of profit generated from Standard and Premium listing packages to nominated charities.

Targets and transparency

Following establishment of our base year and Year 1 data (1 April 2026 – 31 March 2027), the board intends to approve a science-based target supporting a commitment to achieve net zero by 2030.

As data becomes available, we will publish it.
If progress is slower than planned, we will state that openly.
